Ibiza

Having a strong working relationship with a valued client, we were commissioned to design two new luxury homes on existing parcels of land on the Balearic island of Ibiza.

Our brief was to create a proposal to convert an existing derelict windmill and reservoir on the site into a luxury home. The elevated position and use of floor to ceiling glass maximises the views across the surrounding landscape of orange groves and the old town of Ibiza. The form is organic and sympathetic to the site and landscape, allowing air to circulate and flow freely through the building.

An element of sustainable design was introduced by using cross ventilation, which pulls the air (or evaporated water from the pool) across to cool the interior and outside space. The use of natural materials, including stone sourced locally and a grass roof enhances the authenticity of the design and contributes to the sustainability of the design.
