Having worked on the adjacent building, our team were challenged to sympathetically restore this Grade II listed building in London Victoria. The brief was to bring a more contemporary and fresh edge to the building and to modernise the tired interior. This included rationalising the impractical cellular spaces and juxtaposing old and new elements for maximum effect.
The period balustrading to the existing stair was used to create a feature backdrop behind the new glazed panels to the ground floor entrance area. The installation of a large modern mirror was used to link all floors, bringing more light and a sense of openness to the internal stairwell.
